Write To Be Scene Inc (est 2019) is a 501c3 nonprofit youth theatre organization dedicated to amplifying teen voices within disenfranchised communities of Central Florida by teaching the art of play. We provide low-to-no-cost improv and creative writing workshops designed to empower youths to feel heard and be seen.
We offer free writing and performance opportunities for all experience levels, ages 13-19, teaching creative writing, improvisation, and scene building techniques to help youths bring to life stories based on their own lived experiences.
We are founded on the premise that everyone has a right for their words to be heard and their authentic selves to be seen. We advocate for trauma informed, low-income, and at-risk populations, as well as just anyone with a story to tell who would benefit from finding a new and creative way to share it with the world.
To affect positive social change within the lives of communities and individuals—through performance art—by strengthening human capabilities of openness, creativity, collaboration, communication, working through conflict, and entertaining diverse perspectives.
To perpetually affect positive social change within communities and individuals throughout the world by inspiring each new generation to work together to explore ways to unite, using their own original acts, emotions, thoughts, and voices as the tools.
We often conduct free community outreach events at our host venue, The Lab, to invite parents and youth advocacy leaders to come learn more about the classes we offer year-round. Please check our Events page for upcoming opportunities.
We have samples of past programming located in our Programs section, but you may also view Our Impact to enjoy extra video clips and photo galleries from past community outreach events.
