Write To Be Scene Inc (est 2019) is a 501c3 nonprofit youth theatre organization dedicated to amplifying teen voices within disenfranchised communities of Central Florida by teaching the art of play. We provide low-to-no-cost improv and creative writing workshops designed to empower youths to feel heard and be seen.
Throughout our improvisational performance workshops and production opportunities, youths use their own words and ideas to communicate on topics that are important to them to share with wider audiences. Devising means that we have no script, plot, characters, or assigned roles to play until the groups get together and create them as a collective. We encourage diverse perspectives, and we aim to advocate for the use of performance art as a tool to foster cross-cultural acceptance as well as peer-to-peer social support. To grow spaces where teens can build relationships, both with themselves and others, grow, and have fun exploring different avenues of creative expression.
Along with our annual teen theatre production program, we also host year-round workshop opportunities within the greater community as enrichment programming for youth mentoring agencies, after school organizations, in-school programs, shelters, and youth drop-in centers. To host a workshop at your own youth services location, please reach out to us through our Contact tab posted below.
To affect positive social change within the lives of communities and individuals—through performance art—by strengthening human capabilities of openness, creativity, collaboration, communication, working through conflict, and entertaining diverse perspectives. Using our own acts, emotions, thoughts, and voices as the tools.
We host an annual teen theatre production program, open to ages 12-19, as well as pop-up hands-on workshops throughout the year to invite all ages, including kids at heart, to come learn more about the ways we amplify youth voices through performing arts. Please check our Programs page for current opportunities.
Registration is now open for this year's theatre production program, on the theme of "Life Lines: Stories That Keep Our Hearts Pumping." We are seeking to stage a performance of various teen talents and perspectives on why the arts are a Life Line for them. Please view current Programs for more information.
